As the world shakes off its last pandemic shackles, the appetite for travel is growing. With new hotel openings and fresh cultural offerings, these places are set to shine in 2023.

For decades, mountain trekkers have flocked to Nepal for its otherworldly views and deep-rooted spirituality. Now, upscale lodges are popping up throughout the Himalayas, including the soon-to-open Shinta Mani Mustang.

1. Costa Rica

The beautiful Costa Rica is an incredible destination for travelers, boasting pristine beaches and luscious rainforests. Whether you’re looking to relax or explore, the country has it all.

Explore the rainforests of Monteverde and Corcovado with their many trails, wildlife habitats, and breathtaking views. For birdwatchers, the region is a paradise with hummingbirds in abundance.

For something a little more relaxing, head to Arenal Volcano and the surrounding lands for volcanic hot springs and adventure tours. Or, visit the Tree of Life Wildlife Rescue Center in Limon to meet rescued animals and learn about their journeys. Costa Rica also has some amazing advanced surfing beaches, especially in Tamarindo.
